People in Blaenau and Llan Ffestiniog are seeking therapy after the recent dry
summer, which left residents going weeks without rain.

Local Councillor Gwyneth Glawio said, “It’s just not normal; it’s always raining in
Blaenau, yes we get the odd day without rain, but the last few months have been a
living hell; we’re just not equipped for it”
Meteorologists have warned that global warming could lead to longer periods of
dry weather in future.
Meical Pysgodyn from the Met Office said, “Changes to the climate could have severe
implications for locals; there is a high percentage of gingers living in the
community and many have been forced underground into the slate mines to stay cool; they may well struggle to adapt to the new, hotter summers, with many
probably becoming nocturnal, coming out only at night”
Many residents have grown up expecting rain daily; they don’t know what a blue sky
and the sun are. The Welsh Government are setting up sprinklers on the streets to
keep locals damp.
